Christopher Gagne
trombonist, composer & educator

Originally hailing from beautiful Southern Maine, Chris Gagne has been performing throughout the Greater Boston/New England region for the better part of two decades. In that time, Chris has performed with a wide range of world-class artists and ensembles within New England and beyond. He has appeared as a trombonist on numerous recordings, including recent releases featuring artists such as George Benson, Anat Cohen, David Liebman, Miguel Zenón, and Antonio Sanchez.
Currently, Chris can be seen performing with some of the finest ensembles in the Greater Boston area, including Mehmet Sanlikol's Whatsnext?!, the Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra, Mike Effenberger's Weird Turn Pro, the Fernando Huergo Big Band, the New England Jazz Collaborative, as well as other groups and collectives.
Active as an educator, Chris has taught at numerous institutions over the past two decades including Merrimack College, Phillips Academy (Andover), and Tufts University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Music at Springfield College in Springfield, MA.
Chris holds degrees in music performance and composition from the Berklee College of Music, the New England Conservatory, and the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He has studied with Hal Crook, Charlie Banacos, Robin Eubanks, Steve Davis, and Brian Lynch.
